Man Up For Mental Health
Man Up For Mental Health is a national social awareness campaign focused on bringing male mental health and suicide to the public’s attention. Specifically, it aims to combat masculine stereotypes of “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps” and the stigma around men talking with one another about mental health. The campaign’s logo is a combination of the male symbol and a green ribbon, representing mental health awareness. The typography has a rough and grungy texture in the hopes of appealing more to the younger male demographic. A typographic approach was used for this project because the weight of this subject, in my opinion, can’t be respectfully or effectively conveyed with images or illustrations. Mental health is a subject that I am passionate about, and my personal experiences as well as stories that I have heard inspired me to create this work.
